NK HISTORY.
A CULTURAL AND COMMERCIAL THEATRE.
When Josef Sachs founded Nordiska Kompaniet in 1902 his ambition was to bring together the finest products in the world under one roof. But that wasn't all. In addition to exchanging money for goods, customers would also be offered much more, and at no extra charge. Nordiska Kompaniet would be what Sachs liked to call "a cultural and commercial theatre". The rest is history.
THE GREAT DEPARTMENT STORE.
Today, his vision still permeates NK. The store's six levels house over one hundred separate departments, each with its own distinct personality. International brand names, such as Hermès and Mulberry share space with well-known Swedish brands including J Lindeberg, Filippa K, Acne, and Anna Holtblad. Here too, the legendary crystal manufacturers Orrefors and Kosta Boda display their complete collections. In the food market, visitors can sample the best that Sweden has to offer in the way of culinary delights. In addition, the store's bars, cafés, and restaurants make it easy to take a break from shopping.
Standing in the heart of the Swedish capital, it brings together the best the world has to offer. And, to guide you through it all, are the staff who are multi-lingual as well as multi-talented. Need to consult with a bra expert or a personal shopper? No problem. Want to change some currency, do some tax-free shopping, or schedule international delivery? It’s all in a day’s work at NK.
It is in the sum of all of these parts that explains why NK was and continues to be "The Great Department Store" for generations of Stockholmers (including members of the Royal Family). And we are extremely proud of the fact that our customers from around the globe feel the same way.
